ISCA Leadership & Team Culture in Sport workshop

Ian Evans

Some of Australian sport’s most accomplished coaches and athletes came together recently for ISCA’s Leadership & Team Culture in Sport workshop.

70-Test Wallaby and NSW Waratah scrum-half Nick Phipps joined former Aussie Men’s 7s captain and Rio 2016 Olympian Ed Jenkins to talk about the dynamics of team culture, leading teams on an international stage and also getting the balance right on and off the field.

The panel also featured former Fiji Rugby Head Coach Greg Mumm, currently with the NSW Waratahs. Greg’s coaching expertise and work with elite athletes was a valuable addition to the workshop.

ISCA scholarship student Max Lehmann from the Manly Sea Eagles U/20s squad said the seminar was a fascinating insight into leadership within professional teams.

“To hear someone such as Nick Phipps talk about his role with the leadership team within the Wallabies and NSW Waratahs was really inspiring,” Lehmann says. “It was good to hear how difficult it is sometimes to apply leadership within a group but also how athletes apply leadership habits individually.”

Providing insights into professional sports and getting up close and personal with elite athletes and coaches is what makes ISCA so unique. Enrolments for our May 2019 intake are now open, call 1800 319 451 or apply online.
