Love Football? ISCA Launches Exciting New Football Program

Ian Evans

The International Sport College Australia (ISCA) is excited to announce the appointment of former A League player and young Socceroo Sam Gallagher to its program as Football Head Coach.

Sam played in the Australia’s premier football competition the A League for five years, winning a championship with Sydney FC in 2009/10 and was also a member of the Central Coast Mariners, Melbourne Victory Football Club and the Newcastle Jets.

Prior to his impressive A-League career, Sam was a QANTAS Young Socceroo and a member of the Olyroos (U/23 National Team). Sam has also had professional footballing stints overseas in Norway, Vietnam and the UK.

Sam’s signing follows the announcement of a partnership between ISCA and NSW Premier League football club, Manly United, and the Manly Warringah Football Association. Sam is currently playing for Manly United, where he also a Head Coach in the club’s junior program.

ISCA General Manager Ian Evans says the signing of Gallagher as the first coaching appointment for the new College would provide a great pathway for school-leavers and younger athletes within the Northern Beaches and surrounding regions

We couldn’t be happier to have someone of Sam’s abilities headlining our ISCA sports program

“Sam has proven himself to be not only a great footballer but a great leader and mentor for young athletes through his work as Head of Sport with AM Sports Academy in London, coaching at Manly United, numerous holiday coaching clinics and also his inclusion as part of the leadership group with the Young Socceroos,” Evans says.

“We couldn’t be happier to have someone of Sam’s abilities headlining our ISCA sports program and we thank Manly United and Manly Warringah Football Association CEO Dave Mason for his support and guidance throughout this process. In no way will Sam’s role with ISCA detract from the great work he is currently undertaking with Manly United, and we look forward to a harmonious partnership in the future.”

MWFA/MUFC CEO David Mason echoed Evans’ sentiments, saying Sam’s signing coupled with the partnership with ISCA would provide an opportunity for young athletes to receive a quality education whilst still training and enhancing their abilities in the game they love. Mason has over 20-years experience in the sports industry, including stints with the Football Federation Australia (FFA), Sydney FC and working with the Socceroos at the 2014 Football World Cup.

“Football is the number one participation sport in Australia and Manly Warringah is one of the largest football associations in the country, so we are very excited about our new Education Partner ISCA and offering our 18,000 registered players another pathway once they leave school so they have a qualification to assist them either progress into further studies or find employment in the sports sector,” Mason says.

Applications are now open, for both males and females, for the first intake to commence in February 2019.
